Maya Bay is a Turkish singer and songwriter based in Montpellier, France. She first started singing in her school chorus, and performed in various school musicals as lead singer at an early age. She had classical piano training for 7 years and was on course to a classical career when she then quit her music course to start composing music on her own at the age of 14.
So far, the self-taught composer has worked with other sound engineers and musicians in France for different projects, her piece called "All the possibilities" was used during the slide show of the winning photos submitted to the Rotary Club's "Traffic and Circulation" themed International Photography Contest, in Izmir, Turkey.
Maya came to France to study a Fine Arts course in The University Paul-Valery when she was 18 years old.
That is also when she bought her first ukulele.
After learning to play the ukulele, Maya started to write her first songs. To this day, she continues both her piano compositions and her songs with the ukulele. Currently working on her first folk-indie album called "Montpellier Vol.I", Maya’s dedication to a peaceful and united world comes through in her harmonious and unique sound. Without a doubt, Maya Bay is one of the future's promising young artists.
We are delighted that Maya is contributing to Peace In Our Name's second album with the song she has composed and sung, 'Home', shown below.
