Tormey Woods is a young singer from the South of France. The first opera he performed in was L’Enfant et les Sortilege in 2015 at the National Opera House Montpellier, and he has since sung in The Monster in the Maze by Jonathan Dove in the Aix en Provence Festival, Conducted by Sir Simon Rattle.

Starting in the junior branch of the National Orchestra and Opera of Montpellier, he later also joined the Montpellier Symphony choir and with them performed in the Nimes Arena with Ennio Morricone and the Rome Symphony Orchestra. He has since been invited back to sing with Ennio Morricone in Paris, at the Palais des Congrès in September 2016.

At fourteen Tormey first auditioned to join the Junior Opera.  He had no previous singing or musical experience, but with a deep choclatey baritone voice, had always enjoyed singing for himself. He was accepted after singing his first aria, and now enjoys singing so much that he’s studying for a future career in opera.

Tormey found out about Peace in Our Name through his mother, Allison Carmichael, who when asked if she knew any singers asked him if he would be interested, to which he replied “Absolutely!” as a dedicated humanitarian seeing Peace in our name is right up his street.
